Boiler installation & replacement
A new boiler or a like-for-like replacement, supplied, fitted and commissioned by a Gas Safe registered engineer, a tidy install with everything tested and set up before we leave.

Overview
What the work involves
Whether your old boiler has finally given up or you're upgrading to a more efficient system, CTL handles the whole job: helping you choose the right boiler for your home, fitting it properly, and commissioning it so it runs safely and efficiently from day one.
Every quote starts with a free home visit rather than a price guessed over the phone. We look at how many radiators and bathrooms you have, the condition of the existing pipework, where the flue can safely terminate and what your hot water demand actually looks like, then size the boiler to the house. An oversized boiler costs more to buy and cycles wastefully; an undersized one leaves you short on the coldest morning of the year.
We install gas, LPG and oil boilers from leading manufacturers. As an OFTEC certified engineer we can also look after the fuels many gas-only firms won't touch, so rural and off-grid homes across Kent are covered too.
Every gas installation is carried out and certified by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The person who quotes your job is the person who fits it, so the standard you're promised is the standard you get.
New gas boilers fitted in England have to meet the Boiler Plus standard that came in on 6 April 2018: at least 92% ErP efficiency, with time and temperature controls fitted if they aren't already there. A new combi has to include one energy-saving measure on top of that, either flue gas heat recovery, weather compensation, load compensation, or smart controls with automation and optimisation. We'll explain which of those makes sense in your home and fit it as part of the job, so the installation is compliant without you having to chase anyone for it.
Because CTL is Gas Safe registered, we notify your installation to Gas Safe Register ourselves. The register tells your local authority, and your Building Regulations Compliance Certificate is posted out to you afterwards. That certificate belongs to the property rather than to you personally, so it's worth filing somewhere safe: it's the document a buyer's solicitor or a mortgage lender will ask to see later on.
Fitting a new boiler to a dirty system is the most common reason a good installation underperforms. Years of sludge sitting in old steel radiators gets drawn straight into a brand new heat exchanger, and it can quietly undo the efficiency you've just paid for. We'll tell you honestly whether your system needs a power flush before the new boiler goes on, or whether a simpler clean will do the job.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
- Which boiler is right for my home?
- It depends on your home's size, how many bathrooms you have, your water pressure and whether you're on mains gas, LPG or oil. We'll talk through the options when we visit and recommend a boiler that suits how you actually use hot water and heating, not the most expensive one on the shelf.
- Do you remove and dispose of my old boiler?
- Yes. Disconnecting, removing and responsibly disposing of your old boiler is part of the installation. We leave everything clean and tidy.
- Are you qualified to install gas, LPG and oil boilers?
- Yes. Gas work is carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and we're OFTEC certified for LPG and oil, so we can install and commission all three fuel types legally and safely.
- How long does a new boiler take to fit?
- A straight swap, taking out an old combi and putting a new one back in the same spot, is usually a single day. Moving the boiler to another room, converting from a conventional system to a combi, or replacing a cylinder and pipework alongside it will normally run into a second day. We'll tell you which one yours is at the quote stage, not on the morning we turn up.
- What does a new boiler cost?
- Installations start from £1,850. What it comes to for your house depends on the boiler you choose, whether it stays in its current position, and how much of the existing flue, pipework and controls needs replacing at the same time. The home visit and the written quote are both free and there's no obligation, so you get a real figure for your home rather than an online estimate.
- Will I get paperwork for the installation?
- Yes. As a Gas Safe registered business we notify your installation to Gas Safe Register, which in turn tells your local authority and triggers your Building Regulations Compliance Certificate, posted out to you afterwards. Keep it with your property documents, because it's what a buyer's solicitor or a mortgage lender will ask for.
- Does my heating system need cleaning before a new boiler goes in?
- Often, yes, particularly on an older system with steel radiators. Sludge that's been sitting in the pipework for years gets pulled into a brand new heat exchanger and can undo the efficiency you've just paid for. We'll look at the state of your system on the survey and tell you honestly whether it needs a power flush or whether a simpler clean is enough.
- Can you move the boiler to a different room?
- Usually, yes. The three things that decide it are where the flue can safely terminate, whether the gas supply can carry the longer run, and where the condensate can drain away. We'll check all three on the survey and tell you what moving it adds in time and cost before you commit to anything.
