LPG, oil & park home heating

LPG runs a lot of Kent that mains gas never reached: rural homes, park homes and holiday statics. CTL is Gas Safe registered for LPG and OFTEC certified for oil, so both are covered properly.

Overview

What the work involves

LPG is bottled or bulk-tank gas, and it behaves differently to mains gas: different pressures, different regulators, its own safety devices. That is why it sits under its own Gas Safe categories rather than coming free with a natural gas registration. CTL holds them, so LPG boiler installation, servicing and breakdown repairs are all in scope, whether you are on a bulk tank in the countryside or bottles outside the door.

Park homes and holiday statics are the other side of LPG work, and they are where a lot of Kent owners struggle to find anyone. Almost all of them run on LPG, many are heated by a boiler or a room heater rather than a central heating system, and plenty of firms simply will not take the work on. CTL covers both: residential park homes lived in all year, and holiday caravans and lodges on the coastal parks.

If you let a holiday home out, we carry out the annual gas safety check on the appliances you provide and issue the record, exactly as we do for landlords of bricks-and-mortar property. Park owners and private owners both get the same visit.

Oil is the third fuel here, and it is where OFTEC certification comes in. Installation, replacement, annual servicing and repairs are all covered. Servicing matters more on oil than on anything else: the filter and nozzle need attention every year or the boiler stops burning cleanly, and a neglected oil boiler gets expensive fast.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Are you registered for LPG, or just natural gas?
Both. LPG is a gas like any other under the regulations, so LPG work needs Gas Safe registration, and it sits under its own categories rather than being included with natural gas. CTL holds those categories. Oil is separate again and is covered by our OFTEC certification.
Do you work on park homes and holiday caravans?
Yes, both. We cover residential park homes that people live in all year, and holiday caravans and lodges on the parks. Most of them run on LPG, which is exactly the work a lot of firms turn down.
Do you work on touring caravans or motorhomes?
No. Touring caravans and motorhomes are a different type of work again and we do not take it on. Static park homes and holiday homes on a park, yes.
I let my holiday home out. Do you do the gas safety check?
Yes. We carry out the annual check on the gas appliances you provide and issue the record, the same as we do for landlords of ordinary let property. Worth booking before your season starts rather than during it.
Can you service my existing oil boiler?
Yes. We service and repair existing LPG and oil boilers as well as installing new ones. An annual service keeps an oil boiler efficient and reliable, and the filter and nozzle are the parts that need it most.
